The aim of the lesson is to explain to the pianist his problems that prevent him from free expression through playing and also explain how to solve these problems so that his playing would give him satisfaction and his home practicing would become efficient.
The student plays a piece. The teacher tells how to solve:
Technical problems related to incorrect sound production:
• wrong hand and sitting position;
• languid, dull fingertips;
• rigid, inflexible wrists;
• swaying of elbows;
• inability to pass weight to the instrument;
• strained hands;
• a lack of dexterity of fingers;
• clumsy leaps and position changes in arpeggios;
• uneven passages;
• uncomfortable octaves and double notes.
Problems related to inexpressive, non-relief and uninteresting playing:
• inaccurate dynamic nuances;
• inaccurate harmonic nuances;
• inaccurate articulations;
• unclear, non-relief phrasing;
• a lack of sense of form and wholeness of a piece;
• problems with expressing bright and colorful emotional image in a played piece.
Problems connected to unsure playing on stage:
• nervousness before a concert, which grows to panic terror;
• anxiety, a lack of self-confidence while playing on stage;
• a constant feeling that you don’t control the audience, but the audience controls you;
• a feeling that the center is lacking, i.e. when the center of a performance isn’t your music, but the audience’s muddy thoughts;
• a feeling of dissatisfaction after playing, which slowly grows to fear and unwillingness to perform on stage. |

The pianist passes lessons from "The Art of Piano Technique: The Basic Course" textbook, receives free consultations by e-mails and takes 3 control Skype classes with the teacher. The aim of the course is to master the correct sound production which is based on the coordination of the developed internal ear and correct arm movements.
After working on this course you’ll master the basic musical means of expression (MEMs) that are necessary for the correct sound production (hand position and sitting position). The MEMs given in the course are — sound timbre, sound movement, intonation and weight.
You’ll develop your internal ear and will be able to create sounds of various qualities and movements of sounds in your head. And you’ll be able to precisely reproduce these sounds on the instrument knowing how your fingertips, fingers and wrists are responsible for these ideas. You’ll develop a sensation that you can draw a picture using sounds like paints. By imagining sound movement and correct wrist motions, you’ll feel how your wrist becomes flexible, lively and singing.
You’ll discover the possibility of internal singing while playing, i.e. you will learn to “sing on the instrument” by developing the correct intonation. When correctly intonating sounds, your vocal cords and throat muscles work exactly the same way as in regular singing. And the timbre of your voice becomes the beautiful sounds that you play. Also, you’ll begin to breathe correctly while playing with correct intonation. After such playing, your consciousness clears up and you experience a feeling of freshness and ease.
You’ll be able to pass weight to the instrument through correct intonation of sounds, filling your body, arms and sounds with breath, air and freedom.

The Course is intended for students who passed The Basic Course.
After passing this course you’ll consolidate skills that you acquired in The Basic Course and master new interesting MEMs — dynamics, balance, sound texture, musical speech, articulations and meter.
You’ll learn to feel all nuances of loudness with your internal ear. You’ll be able to imagine the quietest sounds (like transparent and distant shades or tender clouds) and the loudest sounds, and play all dynamic nuances from pp to ff qualitatively thanks to the correct sound production.
You’ll master musical speech thanks to which you’ll develop a feeling that you can expressively “speak with sounds of your instrument”. That’s because musical speech expresses all gradations of emotions through intonation of different intervals.
You’ll develop the internal feeling of meter (the pulse of a piece). You’ll be able to organize sound space of a piece that you play — select a suitable tempo, feel the internal pulsation while playing and easily enter the original tempo after a slight rubato.

The Course is intended for students who passed The Basic Course and The Advanced Course.
After passing this course you’ll consolidate skills that you acquired in the previous courses and master the final MEMs — harmony, phrasing, form, emotional image and artistry.
You’ll discover the beautiful world of harmonies (chords and consonances). You’ll learn to submerge into harmonic texture of chords and delicately feel emotional coloring of each chord. You’ll learn to imagine sounds in harmony tint and will be able to accurately express its coloring through sound and intonation.
By mastering exact knowledge of phrasing (motifs, phrases and sentences), you’ll learn to correctly distribute weight while playing and that will allow you to achieve easy and virtuosic playing.
You’ll develop the sense of form and wholeness. A piece you play will be organized into a certain story where there’s beginning, development, rising to climax, climax and conclusion. Thanks to these nuances of form, which are expressed through intonation, you’ll be able to as though cover a piece with your breath.
You’ll learn to express emotional image in a played piece through internal singing — it’ll give you a great feeling that you yourself become that image — as if it begins to live in your intonation and playing.
Yo’ll master artistry — you’ll never again have problems with a brave and confident performance in front of your audience. Thanks to the sensation of artistry, which is also expressed through intonation and musical speech, you’ll be able to maintain this feeling while playing.
