Studying the "PianoWell" System as Preventive Measures of "Overplayed Hands"
Studying with the "PianoWell" system prevents the major professional illness — "overplayed hands".

The condition known as "overplayed hands" is caused by incorrect lessons and exercises. When a student during his lessons feels discomfort in playing and discomfort in movements of hands and keeps on exercising without changing anything, considering that he will overcome his constrained technique by multiple repetitions (even using wrong movements) and it will be more comfortable to play. But the student often doesn't have a clue that he plays with wrong movements.

During the incorrect movements hands don't relax, don't exhale, but constantly stay in strained, stiff condition with permanent inhaling.

The wrong movements, methods and habits include:
• Round-shouldered sitting position
• Too swinging or stiff elbows
• Too cuddled or set aside elbows
• Too raised or lowered wrists
• Too slacking or static wrists
• High lifting of fingers
• Too strained or relaxed fingers
• Flabby fingertips

• Replacement of one action with another:
• Active wrist work replaced with active work of elbow
• The correct precise movements of hands replaced with unnecessary torso movements
• natural usage of weight replaced with strong pressure

Using the correct movements hands begin to "breathe" — naturally exerting, as in inhaling, and relaxing, as in exhaling. Hands become free, flexible and they begin to live.

So as time passes, the student notices that after multiple repetitions it becomes to play easier just a little bit. Apart from that, the student becomes dependent on the hours spent with the instrument — he begins to feel that if he doesn't study 3 to 4 hours a day, all results earned in the last days simply disappear. As a result the student falls into trap — in order to somehow prepare for a performance (teacher's class, examination, concert or competition) the student has to spend 4 to 8 hours a day with the instrument every day. Thus, the uncomfortable hand movements, which completely clamp the student's hands, wrists and psyche repeat 4 or even 8 hours daily!
Naturally, after a certain period of time hands clamp so much that it leads to muscular pain. Hands begin to hurt.
Especially purposeful and persevering students keep on exercising in such condition through pain in hands. And as a result this settings lead to overplayed hands: when the student is no longer able to simply touch a key, when fingers stop moving, when the student's hands start hurting simply after sighting someone playing.

Studying with the system gives the student the most important thing — necessary knowledge for successful and masterful playing, control over student's self-studying, realization in each sound and each movement. And also, minimum of time spent with the instrument, while getting the maximum positive and guaranteed result.

It's necessary to remember that even the most thought out movements cannot replace good fitness, good food and good night sleep. Try to stay away from computer keyboard and mice to avoid injuring your hands.
